Death -- Death Records

Note:  The Commonwealth required the recording of deaths beginning in 1853, but records were not maintained between 1896 and 1912.

1872-1896	Wilson, Thurman and Ruth Boyd Wilson. Tazewell County death register, 1872-1896. Bureau of Vital Statistics records. Gives names of parents where known.  This material is not found at the Courthouse and can be very useful for the time period.

1937-	Social Security Death Index Contains 90 million death records for individuals with U. S. Social Security cards.  Includes names, birth dates, death dates, locations.
