Great Resources
- Virginia Day by Day Family Calendar: This rich resource provides activities in order to better prepare your child for school and to read independently.
- TumbleBook Library teaches children the joy of reading in a friendly format. The Tumblebook Library contains existing picture books with added animation, sound, music, narration, and games.
- Summer Learning: Research shows that children who read for pleasure and explore new things in the summer do better and forget less when they go back to school in the fall. The Virginia Department of Education has launched a Web page and flyer with ideas for summer learning that may be shared with parents, caregivers, or students as the school year ends.
- Animals: A Visual Encyclopedia: This is the perfect resource if your child is conducting research on animals. You can even easily copy and paste pictures from this source and place them into a document. You will need a library card to access this resource.
